Koori Names for Meeting Rooms
Court Services Victoria's meeting rooms on Levels 12, 13, 15, and 16 at 181 Williams St, Melbourne, have been given names in the Woi Wurrung language of the Wurundjeri traditional owners of the Melbourne CBD.
The Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation representing the Wurundjeri traditional owners, supplied the names.
The meeting rooms are named around their purpose - people coming together and interacting as a group.
Aunty Gail Smith of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation has also provided audio recordings of the words spoken in the Woi Wurrung language. These recordings will help people pronounce the room's names correctly and, in doing so, show respect for the Woi Wurrung language.
